Hey there!
Founder of Staged4more.
After our podcast interview with Christine Cowles, Winner of International Home Staging Awards 2020, on Building An Attractive Home Staging Business Website that Sells, home stagers kept emailing us and asking: “How did Christine get found on page 1 of Google???”
Well, read on! Because Christine is going to share with us her top tips on how to get your home staging business to #1 on Google Search.
Christine Cowles is the Co-Owner of Styled & Staged Santa Barbara with her husband Mauricio. Her home staging website won last year’s International Home Staging Awards in the Best Home Staging Website category, and it was such a pleasure to chat with Christine on our podcast about how she built her home staging website!
Today, Christine shares 6 tips here on how she hacked the Google SEO (Search Engine Optimization) rating for her Santa Barbara home staging business. Follow these simple steps below to boost SEO for your own home staging business website, improve accessibility and gain more home staging clients.
Christine intentionally added “Santa Barbara” to her company’s legal name and uses the full name on their website for SEO purposes. Because of this, when someone searches for “home staging Santa Barbara”, the chances of Styled & Staged Santa Barbara ranking on the first page are high!
It is also recommended that you add your city’s name and your staging keyword to each page of your website. For example, adding “we are Savannah’s Top Home Staging Company” on the page that features your portfolio will help to boost your SEO ranking.
Also, try and think about what people will search for when trying to find your home staging business. (You can also find this by signing up for Google Analytics. Also free!) Make sure those keywords are in the text of your home staging website naturally.
This one’s quick and easy to do. You could even get it done today and be one step closer to #1 on Google’s SEO rating for your home staging keywords! All you have to do is:
Set up your Google My Business account
Complete all the info needed as needed
Post your staging photos
Ask for reviews!
Every time you post on your social media platforms, be sure to login to your Google account and create the post there too. This will help you boost your SEO rating.
Here is an article on Hubspot that details the submission process.
Create accounts on Houzz, Yelp, or anywhere else you can think of and then add your website to those pages. Having external links linking to your home staging website is important in search engine ranking. This builds authority to your home staging business website.
Some realtors or home stagers have a “Resource” page on their websites where they list their favorite painters, mortgage lenders, etc. Ask to be listed and include a link to your website.

Christine shared that she is not a SEO expert, so it is recommended to consult with one SEO specialist before any huge business decisions. She hired a company who specializes in SEO for Squarespace websites. Christine paid for a 1-hour consultation and did the work herself.
There are so many different routes you can take to boost your SEO and get to #1 on Google. Make sure you find the process that works best for your time, budget and expertise.
