“It’s all working out. I was so stressed in Italy but the action plan helped me tackle it, truly"

— Jess Harrington, JessFinessed

One of our participants from the last retreat, Jess of JessFinessed, recently announced on her Instagram that she became a landlord by having three other fantastic women-owned, furniture-focused businesses renting at her staging business HQ, a 9,300 sq.ft. warehouse.

This is a very smart and strategic business move! And it was not a small feat! But thanks to the action plan she had set out last October at our retreat, she is able to pull everything together this January!

Who is the retreat for?

This retreat is designed for experienced home stagers who are looking to level up their business and take it to the next level, especially if you have been experiencing plateaus, burnout, or growing pains.

We build the retreat to provide you with the strategies, tools, and community support you need to accelerate and achieve your goals through creating a 12-month action plan aligned with your vision.
We welcome stagers who are committed to investing in their business and themselves ✨

Experience the Beauty of Art, Culture, Architecture, Food and Love of Florence

We purposely scheduled the Retreat during the week so you can arrive early and stay for the weekend after to travel around Italy!

Florence is a great base for traveling around Tuscany and even Rome and Milan are day trip options!

Awarded Best in Travel in 2022 by the Lonely Planet, Florence is an incredible city for you to explore and experience. The birthplace of the Renaissance, the small city is compact and packed with extraordinary art and architecture masterpiece at every turn.

The entire city centre is a Unesco World Heritage Site. You will be able to find world-class art museums brimming with paintings and sculptures by Botticcelli, Michelangelo et al. Plus, many incredible chapels, marble-lined churches with breathtaking fresco, history and art.

Tuscan cuisine is also one of the best in the world. With quality, seasonal and sustainable locally sourced products, this makes Tuscany a heaven for gourmets.

If you love shopping, Florence is also the town for you! Italy’s fashion industry was born and bred in Florence, with Gucci and Ferragamo first opened haute-couture boutiques here in the 20s.

You will also find jewelry maker, ceramics with classic Florentine designs, perfumes, stationary and lots of beautiful handmade leather products ranging from purses to shoes.

This makes it the perfect designation for our retreat for home stagers! ❤️

What our students are saying...

“I'm so thankful that I took the time to invest in myself and my business.”

Since I got back, I have been working on many of the goals I set so I can provide even better staging, design and customer experience to my clients.

A huge SHOUT OUT to Cindy and Elaine for the fabulous retreat and sharing your wisdom and skills with our group to make us all better at what we do.

Why you need a retreat like this at this point of your home staging business

You’ve been working and you’ve been busy, but you know things could be smoother and easier. Oh only if you have the time and mind to organize it! You know you need systems, SOPs, reliable team members to take your staging business to the next level, but you can never seem to pull that together.

This immersive six-day retreat will help you create an action plan that aligns with your vision and goals to grow and scale your thriving staging business.

Our goals at this retreat

Our retreat is intentionally designed for you to immerse in ideas, inspirations and strategies in the inspired setting of Italy. Our masterclasses and workshops are tailored to your needs and challenges in growing your staging business.

You will gain insights and strategies under the guidance of Cindy Lin, Founder of Staged4more School of Home Staging and the Host of The Home Staging Show Podcast, and Elaine Penhaul, Founder of Lemon and Lime Interiors.

Both women are powerhouses in the staging industry, highly sought-after home staging educators and have been coaching and helping stagers elevating their staging businesses through strategic business development, discussions and guided implementation.

Design a smart home staging business with intentional strategies

We tailor our masterclasses and workshops based on your challenges and needs. Here are some of the topics we covered in the previous retreat.

Staging Business by Design

What is the dream home staging business you want? We did a bit of vision work to help participants work out what they want to achieve in the next 12 months and in the long run.

Systems & Process

Creating a smooth operation and streamlined workflow to build consistency in our staging work. This includes having documentation to onboard clients and team members, tracking key KPIs and metrics in the staging business to ensure profitability and efficiency.

Stability & Profitability

We cannot grow our staging businesses without a sound finance. During the retreat, we discussed at length the importance of understanding one’s financial health and how money works in and out of our home staging businesses.

Team Building for the Win

Staging is a service-based business, so it’s a team sport. We can’t lift sofas on our own and even Wonder Woman needs the Justice League. You have found your team members, but are you nurturing and training them to have longevity in your staging business? How do you measure performance?

Travel & Learn with Staged4more

Travel is a big part of my personal life and going on retreats is one of my favorite ways to travel and get inspired for my work. (And write the trips off for taxes!)

I love retreats because it is a dedicated time to work on my business, decompress completely in a new place, meet talented, like-minded, passionate people and get energized and inspired. I am still in touch with many of the amazing people I’ve met on these trips.

I feel recharged every time and the experience often has profound impact on my business and life. Not to mention I’ve made some lifelong friends along the way that have continued to encourage me. Some have even generously contributed to my growth professionally and/or personally by providing feedback on my work and introduced me to others.

This is why I want to incorporate retreats in our school’s offerings, because I know how valuable and special the experience can be.

I hope you will join us on this very special retreat!

Cheers,

Cindy

Meet your instructors

Both Cindy and Elaine have built award-winning home staging businesses and have coached home stagers to help them grow and advance their staging businesses.

During the week, they will dive into their expertise and experiences to help you further your goals and vision for your staging business.

Cindy Lin

 FOUNDER OF Staged4more

Elaine Penhaul

founder of Lemon and Lime Interiors

Cindy Lin

Founder + Lead Instructor

A third-generation small business owner, Cindy has been working since she’s got baby teeth.

She started Staged4more in her parents garage when she was 25 and grew it to an award-winning home staging company operating out of a 5,800 square feet warehouse.

In additions to teaching home staging online since 2016, Cindy's latest in-person teaching post was at University of the Arts London (UAL), where she piloted and created the home staging short course for UAL.

UAL is ranked 2nd in the world for Art and Design according to the 2021 QS World University Rankings®, for the third year in a row. It is Europe's largest specialist art and design university, with over 19,000 students from more than 130 countries.

Since 2015, Cindy has hosted The Home Staging Show Podcast. It is the longest-running podcast dedicated to all things home staging and a Top 200 Apple Podcast in the Careers category.

Throughout her career, Cindy has cultivated a diverse range of creative backgrounds, including building sets and windows for companies like Anthroplogie, Ralph Lauren and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Cindy has designed and installed decor for commercial and private events, worked on photo shoots as a prop and wardrobe assistant for companies like O Magazine, Target, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Gap, Google and Apple.

While building Staged4more as an international school of home staging, she earned two Master degrees. In additions to her role at Staged4more, Cindy also works internationally as an artist with a lens-based practice and has been published and exhibited internationally.

All these creative, visual experiences and business trainings have allowed Cindy to hone her skills in styling, visual design, composition, photography, and business models in creative industries. They have helped to enrich her teaching to become a unique and highly sought-after home staging educator internationally.

Elaine Penhaul

Founder of Lemon and Lime Interiors

Elaine Penhaul is the founder of Lemon and Lime Interiors, a multi-award winning UK property staging business, staging properties for agents such as Knight Frank, Savills and Fine and Country.

She is passionate about creating the understanding of property staging as a powerful marketing tool. Her book, ‘Sell High, Sell Fast – how to sell your home for the best possible price in the quickest possible time’ was published in October 2020 and immediately became an Amazon no 1 best-seller.

A mathematician by training, Elaine is keen to debunk the myth of staging being a ‘nice to have’ service aligned with interior design, and share stories and statistics of how property staging sells homes up to four times faster with offers of guide price and above, in any type of housing market.

To support anecdotal claims made by the staging industry, Elaine and her team created the first worldwide app to evidence return on investment of staging www.stageflow.io

Both the business and Elaine personally, have won many awards including Elaine winning the National Business Women’s Award for a micro business in 2021. Elaine is regularly quoted as a thought leader on property marketing in publications such as Estate Agent Today and The Times.

She is a contributor to many property podcasts and has recently launched the first app to evidence return on investment for staging to a worldwide market.

Prior to setting up Lemon and Lime Elaine enjoyed a career as an executive business coach working across corporate, public sector and voluntary organisations.

She built a reputation for successfully coaching challenging clients and teams and was instrumental in transforming the culture in the UK’s biggest non-metropolitan police force over a ten year period. She specialised in emotional intelligence coaching to transform behaviours.

Elaine is also a property investor, a sailor and mother of four grown-up ‘children’.

Day by Day Itinerary

Welcome to Florence!

Come by the house for aperitivo and a welcome dinner and meet your fellow home stagers!

Introduction, Goals & Workshops

We will kick off the morning with introductions and finding out where your home staging business is now. We will discuss your challenges and goals for the next 12 months.

In the afternoon, we will workshop specific issues that you have pre-submitted in your questionnaire.

At the beginning of the retreat, you will choose one major goal to work on to make it happen in the next 12 months. This is the kind of goal that will make a significant impact in your home staging business.

Throughout the retreat, you will work out an action plan to accomplish this major goal for your staging business.

Lunch at the house

*Please note that after registration, you will fill out a questionnaire about your home staging business. We will tweak the classes base on you and your fellow stagers’ answers. So things may shift slightly.

Morning and afternoon workshops

We will keep working on breaking down challenges you’ve been experiencing in your home staging business.

Lunch at the house

*Please note that after registration, you will fill out a questionnaire about your home staging business. We will tweak the classes base on you and your fellow stagers’ answers. So things may shift slightly.

Relax and enjoy the city (or beyond)!

You will have a free day all to yourself midweek to decompress.

(Trust us, you will need it after two full days of masterclasses and workshops!)

There is SO much to do in Florence, so we thought it’s best to let you have some time to decompress from the intensives and relax.
Here are a few ideas for you:

  • Explore all the amazing art in Florence. For example, see David in person. The original sculpture of the David is in the Accademia Gallery of Florence. The second copy of the David is located in Piazza della Signoria (Duomo Square), just opposite the Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace). The third copy is in the middle of Piazzale Michelangelo.

  • Shopping: jewelry, high fashion, leather goods, ceramics with Florentine motifs, stationary, you name it

  • Want to take a day trip? Plenty of options in Tuscany, even Rome or Milan! Florence is a great hub for travel and you can take the train easily to many places in Italy! Why not leave Tuesday night after class, stay overnight somewhere, explore during the day and come back and join us Thursday morning for class?

Workshop and 1:1 sessions

This is the day where we will have 1:1 sessions.

You will get a 1:1 session with Cindy and a 1:1 session with Elaine.

Lunch at the house

Feedback & support

On Friday, we will listen to each other’s action plans and give feedback and support.

Before the end of the retreat, we would also like you to find an accountability partner (or two) to keep each other on track on your action plans.

For our Farewell Dinner, you will be learning how to make Italian pasta! We will be meeting at our chef’s pasta school that is about a six-minute walk away.

I'm so excited! Yes I'm coming!

Where we will be working?

We will be working in a beautiful private home that is in the city center of Florence.

It is a five-minute walk from the Duomo, full of light and extremely quiet. It is on the 8th floor overlooking the roofs of Florence (yes, there is an elevator!)

On days where we are working at the house, the lunches will be prepared by our private chef Michael. Michael has cooked in Michelin star restaurants in London and Thailand. He will create locally-sourced meals with seasonal freshness and flexibility with dietary restrictions and food allergies. On our last day, we will be learning how to make Italian pasta at Michael’s cooking school!

Who is this trip for?

This trip is for the open-minded home stagers who are dedicated to developing and growing their home staging businesses.

Great for those home stagers who value learning, education, and coaching to take their staging businesses to the next level.

This is an immersive adventure that’s best suited for those who enjoy traveling and learning as a part of a small group.

This retreat is perfect for you if:

  • You are committed to building a successful home staging business
  • You are ready to take action and implement proven strategies to achieve your goals
  • You are looking for support and guidance from experienced staging business coaches and other successful staging business owners
  • You are willing to invest in yourself and your business to achieve long-term success

While this retreat is open to all home staging business owners, please note that the content and activities are geared towards those who have already achieved some level of success in their business.

If you just started your staging business and have not yet done any paid staging projects yet, and looking to build a strong foundation for your staging business, we recommend that you consider our 5-Figure Floor Plan course or our Level 1 Certification Program, designed specifically for beginner stages.

I am thinking to join you next year instead

If you want to make a lasting impact and change to your staging business, NOW is always better than later.

We do not have any plans to host a retreat of this size next year, or any retreat at all for that matter since Cindy will be heading back to grad school!

An international trip is a big commitment. I am scared to walk away from my business for a week. Will it be worth it?

This is precisely why you need to carve out the time to do the strategic work! At this level, you should be focusing on the high-level aspects of your home staging business, instead of the day-to-day grind.

For you to grow your home staging business, your business shouldn’t be dependent on you physically being there all the time.

Our retreat may only be a week, but during this week, your business can change and benefit from SO much.

We have seen positive impact in just a few short months from last year’s participants. The retreat gave them the clarity and confidence to move forward.

We’ve seen how energies shifted in just one short week. Our participants also formed their own mastermind group where they kept in touch after the retreat to keep the conversation going.

We specifically designed a small-group, immersive experience because we believe this kind of engaging learning experience with a built-in structure for strategies planning and creation will help participants transform their staging businesses.

Investing in yourself and your staging business is a HUGE step and we don’t take that lightly.

During the week, both Cindy and Elaine will share their experiences with you (successes and failures!) candidly and generously to help you craft the strategies you need to move your staging business forward in the next 12 months and beyond.

Is the retreat taught in English?

Yes.

Both Elaine and Cindy are English speakers. Elaine is British and Cindy is American.

Cindy has lived in the UK, so she will be able to translate UK-specific terms in real estate and business.

While the terms, rules and regulations may be different country to country, the concepts we are teaching (for example, building systems and SOPs, onboarding team members, etc.) are fairly universal.

If you have any concerns about the content of the retreat not working for your country, please contact us and we can chat further about that.

Can I attend the retreat virtually?

If an in-person retreat isn’t in the cards for you right now, we completely understand.

At this time, we are not able to offer the retreat experience virtually. We want to make sure that our participants get 100% of our attention during their masterclasses and workshops.

Our current team structure is not able to support additional participants virtually.

This working retreat includes…
  • Home staging business masterclasses and workshops tailored to your needs and challenges with award-winning stagers and business coaches Cindy Lin and Elaine Penhaul
  • Welcome dinner made by a private chef with locally sourced ingredients
  • Four lunches made by a private chef with locally sourced ingredients during workshop days
  • A farewell dinner and pasta-making workshop at our private chef’s cooking school
  • Beverages & snacks at the house
  • A 1:1 session with Cindy
  • A 1:1 session with Elaine
  • A follow-up group coaching call post-retreat
  • Complimentary enrollment to a 3-part, live workshop series on finances. We will cover cash flow management, budgeting, and tax planning.
  • A special invite to continue your work in building your staging business with coaching and mastermind after the retreat

  • Activities not included in the trip itinerary
  • Expenses and activities during free time
  • Meals and beverages not included in itinerary
Travel arrangements

It’s up to you to arrange your own travels to our meeting place for the Retreat.

We will be working in a beautiful private home that is in the city center of Florence.

It is a five-minute walk from the Duomo, full of light and extremely quiet. It is on the 8th floor overlooking the roofs of Florence (yes, there is an elevator!)

The first gathering will be on Sunday at 5pm, where we will meet at the home for aperitivo and Welcome Dinner.

We recommend arriving in Florence by 3pm on Sunday, September 17th, so you can settle into your hotel/airbnb before our Welcome Dinner. We will start the workshops on Monday morning.

If you need assistance in making travel arrangements from your place of residence, we recommend working with a travel agent on making the flight and travel arrangements.

Items needed during the retreat

You are welcome to bring your laptop to take notes. There will be wifi at the home.

For the final day, you will be presenting your action plan. We don’t have a projector at the house. A presentation slidedeck is not necessary for your presentation. Last year, our participants simply talked about their plans and their ah-ha moments.

You are also welcome to bring your camera to take photos around the house and the gorgeous city of Florence. If you want feedback on your photography, Cindy will also be able to give you tips on using your camera.

Weather

The weather in Florence in September is roughly 80° / 58°F. Perfect for short shorts and dresses! ☀️

We recommend packing layered clothes for your stay and a light jacket. You may also want to bring an umbrella for the sun/occasional showers!

Is there a payment plan?

Yes.

We have a multi-month payment plan option available. It is a more accessible option if you want to spread the payments out.

You will be charged the first installment when you signup and the remaining installments each month until your payment plan is complete.

If you have any questions about your payment plan, please let us know by emailing us.

Covid policies + disclaimer

We want to let you know that, in accordance with current COVID guidelines in Italy, proof of vaccination is not required for attendees of our retreats.

However, please note that if the COVID guidelines in Italy change, it will be the responsibility of participants to manage any entry requirements.

We want you to have a safe and enjoyable experience during the retreat, and your health and well-being are important to us.

As we will be in a small group setting, we kindly ask that you keep a close eye on your own health and monitor for any symptoms. In the event that you experience any symptoms during the retreat, please let us know immediately.

We also ask that if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 during the retreat, for the safety of everyone else in the group, please stay in your accommodations and do not participate in any group activities.

In the event that you are unable to participate in any group activities due to COVID-19 symptoms, we will work with you to make up any missed teaching portions of the retreat, to the best of our ability.

Accessibility

The private home we have rented has an elevator but it is not big enough for a wheelchair.

Please note that the apartment is on the 8th floor (or 7th in Italy). There are 178 steps.

It is rare that the elevator will be out of commission, but if this is a concern for you if it does happen, do consider our Tuscany retreat instead.
