Project Home #10: Kitchen/Bathroom Refresh!
Welcome to your second Weekend Project!
Before we get started this weekend, I’d like to say something about feeling burnt out. I’d like you to make realistic goals during this month. You may have a lot going on this month, which prevents you from completing your projects. While I don’t want you to look for excuses to not finish, I also want you to have realistic expectations for yourself and managing your time as well as you can. That last thing I want for you is to get burnt out before we even are half way through. So block out some time and just focus on one project at a time.
For this weekend, pick either kitchen or bathroom(s) for your weekend project. Both are big areas to tackle, so let’s just focus on one this weekend. If you finish early and want to start on another, go for it!
I’d like you to accomplish 3 things during your reset:
- Deep clean: This includes floor, storage spaces (cabinets, etc.), countertops and even grout lines. Give everything a thorough cleaning from top to bottom.
- Purge: Purge anything that hasn’t been used for the last 12 months. Place anything you haven’t used for the last 6 months on “probation,” meaning re-evaluate if you truly need this particular object if you haven’t used it in 6 months.
- Add a little bit of pretty: This can be simple, like adding some fresh flowers or a little green plant, or adding pretty canisters for your countertop. You can also update hardware and change out the fixture. No matter what you do, focus on changing one simple thing that can add to your space.
