Mindful Clutter Clearing With Laura Gaskill

Mindful Clutter Clearing With Laura Gaskill

Hi guys, welcome back! I hope you had enjoyed our first episode of this season with Lisa from HGTV’s Critical Listing! That was a really great episode and I loved all the tips and tricks that she had shared.

And as usual, if you enjoy the show, please take a moment to rate and write us a review on iTunes. It helps others to find this show and we can book more amazing guests for the show.

This Month’s Focus

The rest of this month, I want to focus on mindset. You are probably thinking, that’s incredibly vague and kind of woo-woo, why are we talking about this on a home staging show? Well, today’s episode kicks off a 3-part series where we talk about removing clutter in your life and home, this includes both emotional clutter and physical clutter. The series will also go over setting goals, intentions and being mindful about your process, then attaching actions to get things done. I know sometimes this type of conversations may sound really woo-woo but I think it’s really important to have because a large part of selling your home is mental. It’s not just the physical aspect of things. It is like running a marathon. You will hit your walls several times throughout the process and that’s why I’ve invited guests on for this few shows that talk about mindset, intention, manifesting so that you are mentally clear and prepare yourself for the sale ahead.

The other thing is that one of the main goals of this show is to empower you to make positive changes for yourself and beautify your environment so you live a more inspired and happier life. I feel very strongly about it and having gone through a lot of personal losses last year, I can’t tell you how shifting my mindset and physically removing a lot of materials and bad relationships in my life has done for both of my business and my personal life. I’m sorry it’s taken deaths and losses to put things into perspective for me, I’m working through it still, but just being able to shed stuff was a very large part of my healing process, which was also mentioned briefly on the show today.

What’s On Today

Anyway, this show is not about me, it’s about you. Today I’m interviewing Laura Gaskill, who is an interiors writer, e-course teacher, mother, and creative soul, living in her hometown of Alameda, an island in the San Francisco Bay, after seven years on the east coast. Her mission is to help people unearth their treasures and live more authentic, beautiful, and meaningful lives.

She is a regular contributor on Houzz.com and she teaches people how to mindfully clear clutter, which I think is such an important process and conversation to have in the home staging process. I hope our conversations will help motivate you to start removing clutter in your life and inspire you to better and bigger things. That’s why I thought it would be perfect to have her on, to discuss her own personal experience staging her house for sale and what she’s learned through her professional experiences. I also thought this series will be a really great starting point for next month’s special project, which is something I’m calling Project Home.

As you may know, real estate usually starts heating up in March. So we are moving up the spring cleaning plans for those of you who’re putting the home on the market and making February our spring cleaning month. So you’ll be hearing mostly me next month on the podcast, I’ll also have blog posts and cheat sheets available for you to go along with Project Home next month.

Let’s start the show!
